World Language

The Department of World Languages at Nantucket Public Schools is dedicated to providing a minimum of six consecutive years of study in at least two languages other than English. Our curricula adhere to National Proficiency Guidelines as well as Massachusetts State Frameworks and of course the Mission Statement of the Nantucket Public Schools. We recognize the growing need for global education in this country and will continually strive to provide our students with the skills and competency needed by the increasingly interdependent world economy. We also urge our district to consider expanding our offerings to the primary grades as there is a plethora of research data supporting world language study in the early years.
